Epic 50, part 8

The below are the final top five cities.

I already know I failed to get the top slot as I saw 249 and 253 points in the stories and tales section.    Both of those beat my score of 248 points.

It looks like I should have declined the first vote.    That should have seen Zimbabwe captured and would have gotten my score up to 250 points.    If the Ottoman boat people had survived that would have been 251 points provided I got their vote.    I still wonder if I had been a little more careful if I could have gotten the Roman vote.    I may have been too aggressive with pillaging him to death.    I don't know what pillaging does to an AI civs attitude.

I felt I was playing the game below my abilities, and I paid the price.    I know of several mistakes I made looking back.    One of those mistakes was not getting enough forest planted quickly to somewhat counteract the horrid initial irrigation happy setup.    If I had spread out the wonders more evenly I could have gotten up to 253 points with another top 5 slot.

The below is the other top 5 city of Madrid.

Now take a look at my culture ratings for my top cities

Look at where Madrid falls within the cities.    I have no question I could have beaten out Madrid.    This proves my theory that spreading out the wonders would have helped.

In the end Spain becoming a monster was the killer.    They were even larger then the Zulu at there high water mark.    It would have been a lot easier if I had the world against the Zulu.    That would have eliminated the need to destroy the Mongols, Romans and Ottomans to save 20 points in getting the Spanish vote.
